Take the Grand Tour of Serres-et-Montguyard

It’s unlikely that Lord Byron, Shelley and other gentlemen of their generation took in Serres-et-Montguyard as a stage in their Grand Tour of Europe. But they would have missed so much in their rush to visit Paris, Rome and Venice.

The commune of Serres-et-Montguyard did get 12 mentions on the old Visites en Aquitaine site for its monuments, buildings etc. that are deemed to be of special interest – a not insignificant number given the size of the commune. Surprisingly our bus shelter does not get a mention, nor does our well and there are at least another two crosses. We take you on a guided tour of the highlights. The ones that made the list on the Visites en Aquitaine site are asterisked. Le Pigeonnier we think is over the border but it’s worth pointing out.

One of the Aquitaine sites seems to have disappeared, that of the “Grue à vendanges” or wine harvest crane. Unfortunately we do not have a photograph. AND, now the village pump has disappeared!
