Old Postcards of Serres-et-Montguyard

Unless otherwise stated the postcards are from the personal collection of Derek FRENCH.

Villa la Carpe (1901)

As far as we are aware there is at least one other postcard of Serres to be added to our collection. We know that there is one of the old school. Unfortunately we have found none of Montguyard, which is perhaps surprising given its historic Templar church. We are very pleased to have discovered a postcard of the station, which although is properly La Gare de Saint-Aubin would have been our local stop.

n.b. dates given are from the postmark if the card has been franked.

Marcel DELBOY (1882-1941)

Five of our nine cards are attributed to Marcel Delboy. Whether he took the photos himself or he was the editor we don’t know. His career spanned the first half of the 20th century and he specialised in photographs of Aquitaine and Bordeaux in particular.
The cards are numbered 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 so we know that that there is at least one more Delboy card out there waiting to be discovered.
